Sarah L. Davis has been hailed by the Boston Globe as having a “clear and
characterful soprano” and “assured musicianship”. A native of Colorado, Sarah
earned her Bachelor of Music at the University of Colorado and a Master of Music at
Boston University and spent a year as an Intern with the Boston University Opera
Institute, where she sang the role of Ilia in the Institute’s production of Idomeneo and
Helena in Britten’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream. She also appeared in BU
productions of Così fan tutte, Die Fledermaus, Beatrice and Benedict and Le Nozze di
Figaro, and scenes from La Traviata, Dialogues des Carmelites, Roméo et Juliette
and Carmen. Other Boston credits include First Lady and First Spirit in Longwood
Opera’s production of The Magic Flute and Ensemble in Boston Lyric Opera’s
productions of Thaïs, La Traviata, Lucie de Lammermoor, Eugene Onegin, and Tosca
as well as several concert appearances with ALEA III, Maine Grand Opera, New
Music Ensemble Boston and the Saengerfest Chorus. In 2005, Sarah appeared as
the soprano soloist in Consent to Gravity, a landmark musical and choreographic
interpretation of the 'scores' of artist Frederick Sommer at the J. Paul Getty Museum
in Los Angeles, the Pace/MacGill Gallery in New York City, the Rhode Island School
of Design, Providence Performing Arts Center in Providence, RI and the Tower
Auditorium at MassArt in Boston.
As a 2004 Des Moines Metro Opera Apprentice Artist, Sarah appeared in scenes
from Pelléas et Mélisande, Little Women, Carmen, Die Zauberflöte and Postcard from
Morocco as well as in their production of Madama Butterfly. Sarah spent the summer
of 2003 as Young Artist at the Utah Festival Opera Company, where she sang the role
of Anna in Verdi’s Nabucco and appeared in their productions of Madama Butterfly
and Fiddler on the Roof, as well as being a featured soloist in the Carnivale
Operafesta concert. She also appeared in an international broadcast of the Mormon
Tabernacle Choir.
Ms. Davis was seen in University of Colorado productions of La Cenerentola (Tisbe
cover), Le Nozze di Figaro (Barbarina) and Albert Herring (Miss Wordsworth) as well
as Colorado Lyric Theatre Festival productions of The Gondoliers, Iolanthe, Elixir of
Love, Anything Goes and as Cousin Hebe in H.M.S. Pinafore.
Sarah has enjoyed teaching voice class at Boston University, music theory, diction,
movement, acting and private voice at the Boston University Tanglewood Institute, in
Lenox, MA, and private voice at Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School in Sudbury,
MA and in the Boston area.
Sarah now resides in Thornton, Colorado, began work on a Doctor of Musical
Arts degree at the University of Colorado at Boulder in the fall of 2008, and recently
appeared there as Lady Billows in Albert Herring and as Mrs. Webb in Our Town.
Sarah is excited to have begun teaching Kindermusik© at J.A.M. Conservatory in
Broomfield, Colorado, where she currently offers voice lessons.
